WHAT IS SHOPMOBILITY?

Horsham Shopmobility provides a selection of manual and powered wheelchairs along with motorised scooters to anyone, young or old, who has problems walking around Horsham Town Centre, giving them greater independence and access to the shopping areas and leisure facilities. It is available to those people with limited mobility due to a permanent or temporary disability, frailty, accident or illness. Users do not have to be registered disabled to use the service.

Horsham Shopmobility is situated on Level 2 of the Swan Walk Car Park in the area behind Marks and Spencer and is signposted both outside and inside the car park. It has its own free parking area alongside the office with access to the Swan Walk Shopping Centre and other areas of the town centre via the lifts nearby. Toilet facilities for the disabled are available on the ground floor in the shopping centre close to the lifts. The opening hours are 10:00am to 4:30 pm Monday to Saturday (except Bank Holidays)

HOW MUCH DOES SHOPMOBILITY COST?

The service is being offered free of charge along with the adjacent free car parking area. However, if you wish you may make a donation towards the service in the box provided, which would help to cover administration and insurance costs.

HOW DOES SHOPMOBILITY OPERATE?

To use the Shopmobility service, please come into the office at the Swan Walk Car Park on your first visit. You will be asked to fill in a registration form and offer some form of identification. A users card will then be issued to speed up your future bookings. You may then borrow one of the wheelchairs, or scooters, but please book first to avoid disappointment. The chairs and scooters may be booked in advance by calling at the office or by telephoning 01403 249015. An answerphone service is also available. You are recommended to book early in advance as there may not be the vehicle you require available if you turn up without booking, At least one day's notice should be sufficient. On arrival you or your companion will be able to park in a specially reserved area at the car park. There will be a member of staff on hand to welcome you and give a full instruction on how to use the shopmobility vehicle. A small practice area is available and once you feel confident, you can make your way to the shops.
